Bio

Jillian Armstrong is a postdoctoral scholar for the NSF Center for Pandemic Insights. She is interested in using innovative transdisciplinary approaches and novel technology to monitor infectious diseases in human and wildlife populations. During her PhD in Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases at Yale University, Jillian studied the use of novel diagnostics in COVID-19 and malaria, with a focus on the optimization, implementation, and assessment of a noninvasive device for malaria detection in vivo. Jillian’s exposure to laboratory science, field-based data collection, and applied public health during her doctoral studies further emphasized the importance of interindustry collaborations and multidisciplinary partnerships for infectious disease and pandemic research.
