Bio
Sarah Lagattuta is a Field Research Fellow at the NSF Center for Pandemic Insights. She earned a B.S. in Molecular Environmental Biology with a minor in Data Science from UC Berkeley. Her previous research centered on transdisciplinary collaboration to automate non-invasive surveillance methods for wild bat colonies using machine learning. As a part of the Institute for Pandemic Insights, her work focuses on methodology design and implementation of wildlife surveillance technologies, including thermal imaging, volatile organic compound sensing, pathogen sensing, and environmental sampling. These approaches will be used to provide key insights for health and population monitoring in wild bats, marine mammals, and captive zoo animals.
